Gearbox Software, the developer behind the Borderlands series, announced that they are “ready to start” working on a new Borderlands game, potentially Borderlands 3, according to a panel they hosted this past week at PAX South.

“We want to think about the future and we want to think about what the next Borderlands is and we’re going to need some help,” Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said. “The fact is, we’re not working on a new Borderlands game, but we want to.”

“If you are in the industry and you think you can help us, we want you to help us. We want to get started on a new Borderlands game. There’s literally nothing to tell, but we’re ready to start.”

Shortly after their panel, Pitchford took to Twitter to begin recruiting for help to develop the “next Borderlands.”

Are you a fan of the Borderlands series? If so, let us know in the comments below what you like best about the games. Are you excited for a third installment?

  • One may have thought the pre-sequil would be a third, but no the second one is the third? Or is the second one still 2 and the per-sequel is 1.5. Thank goth they aren’t working on another Duke or ACM. So what they’re saying is we want your ideas because we have none.

Haha, I enjoyed the borderland games so far, the art style is unique and the characters are likable in my opinion. Haven’t played the pre-sequel yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to doing so.
