Sony’s revealed that they sold 6.4 million PlayStation 4 consoles during their third financial quarter, significantly boosting the company’s profit.

The company’s total profit for the three-month period which ended December 31st last year was impressive, with more than 147 million PS4 games sold versus the previous year’s 128 million PS4 games and 4.5 million PS4 consoles sold during the same quarter.

As a result, sales were up 16.8 percent year-on-year to ¥531.5 billion ($4.4 billion). PS3 console and game sales were down however, with only 1.1 million PS3 units sold.

What do you think of these numbers? Impressive? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Microsoft and Sony both have impressive numbers. I hate to say one beat the other, but Sony still beat Microsoft. The scary thing is Sony’s original games and big IPs haven’t even come out yet. They have a stunted first party library while Microsoft unloaded a lot of exclusives and still haven’t overcome Sony. I can keep punching Microsoft in the face and say they’re still losing to Apple and Google. They’re fighting three different wars and losing on each front. Even #2 is incredible.
