The Toad amiibo is absolutely adorable, but it’s also about to become very useful.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will utilize the amiibo of the title character to add even more puzzles to the game. Details were recently revealed through a short video, and it appears by pressing the Toad figurine to the gamepad, players will have a new reason to revisit previous levels in the game.
After connecting the amiibo, a pixelated version of Toad will appear somewhere in the stage the player is in. After the 8-bit Toad comes into view of the player’s screen, a 10 second timer will begin counting down. The player must remain in the vicinity of the hidden toad when the timer hits zero in order to succeed.
A patch for the game is expected sometime in the next week to update it for amiibo functionality.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was released last year and the new Toad amiibo, along with the rest of the Super Mario amiibo line arrive on March 20. Could these amiibo be next?
