Last week, it was revealed during the Nintendo Direct that fans now have the chance to vote on what characters they’d like to see appear in future updates of Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS via this website.
While voting lasts until October 3, fans have already taken vigorously to voting for what characters they want to see developed for the game, as Nintendo has added that no character is off limits when it comes to voting, although none are guaranteed to be developed.
Disappointedly, the current voting site does not display any form of ranking or results of how many votes particular characters have received up to this point, but one reddit user has created a survey that can be completed voluntarily in the Super Smash Bros subreddit, and the results so far are posted below.
“This is essentially to give us a better idea of exactly which characters are being voted for, and thus which characters are more likely to be added, either as DLC or in the next game. I’ve already gathered well over 100 from Smashboards and would like to get a bunch from reddit as well!” the description reads.
Shovel Knight is currently leading the pack in this poll, with the closest competitor being “other.”
Additional characters that have gained some traction include Snake, Bayonetta, the new Inklings from Splatoon, and the Ice Climbers.
A wide range of characters appear farther down on the poll, including Professor Layton, Crash Bandicoot, and Tetris Block. Phil Spencer will be happy to see Banjo on the list.
This is just a small poll of the Reddit community, and may not be entirely representative of how voting is truly going, but it’s still interesting to see what characters people are coming up with!
