The Pan European Game Information board (PEGI) has revealed that the release of two classic Star Wars games is on the way for the PlayStation 3, Star Wars: Starfighter and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. Both of these titles originally launched for the PS2 and Xbox.

“Assumedly heading to the PS3 under the PlayStation Classics range are Star Wars: Starfighter and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, both recently reclassified by PEGI. Both titles were originally released on PS2 and Xbox.”

For those of you who’re unfamiliar with the two games, LucasArts made the following points about the games when they were originally released:

  • Single and dual player action in over 15 story-based missions. Fly all missions co-op with a friend – or in single-player mode – in a variety of craft.
  • Sneak a peek at Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones thrills!
  • Fly the new Jedi Starfighter and get a preview of characters, story connections, craft a key location and clues to events from the film.
  • Force powers in flight. Capabilities that no pilot, craft or weapon has previously possessed — Force lightning, Force shield, Force reflex and shock wave.

Let us know in the comments below if you’re a fan of these games! Would you be excited to see them remastered on the PS3? Or preferably new-gen consoles?

  • These are fun action games, kind of X-Wing Lite … but with simplified console controls and unfortunately set in the prequel era. The right thing to do would be to (yet again) remake Rogue Squadron, which has the right ships and characters for a fun time.
