Yooka-Laylee is the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie and was extremely successful in its young Kickstarter campaign.

Banjo-Kazooie is a franchise that many fans hoped Rare would one day return to, but for now this is the next best thing. The initial goal for the project’s funding was £175,000 and this was surpassed rapidly. One day later and at the time of writing £1,102,466 has been raised and counting, with 45 days to go.

Playtonic Games – creators of Yooka-Laylee – had this to say.

“Obviously we would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has backed the project so far. Our intention from the beginning was to use Kickstarter as a means to improve Yooka-Laylee, and you’ve helped us shape it into one fine specimen.”

Due to the wealth of additional funds Playtonic have announced that they will be able to launch Yooka-Laylee on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U simultaneously.
