As we continue to get ever closer to patch 6.2 for World of Warcraft more and more changes to game are surfacing in the public test realm. Blizzard recently announced that they are aiming to revamp the current loot system in raids.

If you’ve been playing the game for a while now you’ll recall the days of lengthy arguments and rage quits over who needed and who greeded an item they weren’t supposed to. But as the game evolved it adopted the personal loot system which just dumped an item drop from a boss on a random player if they were lucky enough. In 6.2 Blizzard aim to make the personal loot system more rewarding and consistent by increasing drop rates and increasing the potential usefulness of the drops. This will mean players using the personal loot system will see an increased likelihood of their tier set pieces dropping to make it on par with players using the group loot option.

A more visible addition is a neat little change to the user interface that shows who in the raid has won what item. So rather than being buried in the chat log, your reward will be proudly displayed above your head for all to see. Not much of a change but hopefully it will bring back some of the celebration of receiving an item you’ve been hoping for.

As 6.2 for Warcraft gets closer what are your thoughts on the changes we’ve covered so far? Are you looking forward to Mythic dungeons? What about Timewalking some of the old content? We’ll continue to cover the updates as the come out but let me know what you think so far in the comments section below!
