Legendary Pictures have released CG renders of Orgrim, the principal protagonist in the upcoming movie adaption of World of Warcraft. Orgrim, an orc warchief, is set to be portrayed by actor Robert Kazinsky in director Duncan Jones’ (Moon, Source Code) upcoming film. According to Jones, Kazinsky has managed to perfectly capture Orgrim as Jones envisioned him.

“We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character.”

The Orgrim CG renders have been produced by Industrial Light and Magic, who are producing most, if not all, of the special effects on the Warcraft film. In order to produce Orgrim’s likeness, Industrial Light and Magic were able to receive concept art from Blizzard – who developed the World of Warcraft games on which the film is based. They then merged this concept art with photographs and scans of Kazinsky in order to portray a more accurate version of Orgrim.

Industrial Light and Magic were also the ones who produced the effects for Avengers: Age of Ultron, so many fans of World of Warcraft have been certain that the effects for the Warcraft film were in good hands. Speaking last year about the use of special effects in the film, Jones insinuated that the Warcraft film was a combination of Lord of the Rings and Avatar, while later adding that:

“We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies. We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.”

Warcraft is set to star  Clancy Brown (Spongebob, The Shawshank Redemption) as Blackhand and Dominic Cooper (Need for Speed,Captain America) as King Llane. The film has been hit with several delays since it was first announced, which ended up pushing back the release date several times, although production is now reported to be running smoothly, with the film set to be released on June 10, 2016.
