Destiny’s new expansion, The Taken King, will bring some new subclasses for your Guardians. We got a sneak peak of them in the E3 reveal trailer, and now we’ve got some details on each. Right now, each Guardian class has 2 subclasses with an elemental burn (Void, Solar, or Arc); since Destiny’s launch, however, there has always been an empty slot in the subclass section of the Guardian start menu. After the Taken King is released on September 15th, a new subclass for each Guardian will fill that Void (get it?).

That’s right: Warlocks will now have Arc abilities, Hunters will have Void, and Titans will have Solar. Let’s go over some of the details and Supers of each new subclass from The Taken King page on the Bungie website:

Warlock: Stormcaller (Arc)

“Harmony within, hurricane without.”

  • game description: “Stormcallers directly manipulate Arc energy, focusing body and mind to channel and chain the lightning. Their enemies are given fair warning— flee from battle, or face the storm.”
  • Stormtrance (Super) – gives you the ability to chain Arc lightning from your hands – a new way to wreak havoc with your Space Magic
  • Storm grenade – a localized lightning storm upon detonation
  • Thunderstrike (melee) – an electrocuting melee attack with an extended range (in other words, get smacked from far away)
  • Perpetual charge (ability) – getting a grenade kill can recharge your melee ability, and getting a melee kill can recharge your grenade

Titan: Sunbreaker (Solar)

“Forge the fury of undying suns.”

  • Game description: “Incendiary siege engines of war, Sunbreaker Titans hammer and shatter their enemy’s ranks from afar, raining cleansing fire down upon fortified defensive positions.”
  • Hammer of Sol (Super) – a Solar-infused hammer that you use to give someone a major headache
  • Thermite grenade – sends a line of fire towards enemies upon detonation
  • Sunstrike (melee) – ignite enemies with a Solar punch to the face
  • Fire keeper (ability) – allows the Hammer of Sol to last longer, and you can gain an overshield when standing near a Sunspot

Hunter: Nightstalker (Void)

“Draw from the void. Light the way.”

  • Game description: “All Hunters master the frontier, but none claim territory quite like a Nightstalker. Shadowshot binding may seem more merciful than gun or blade… until the feeding frenzy begins.”
  • Shadowshot (Super) – shoot a Void-infused arrow at a group of enemies to anchor and slow them for your fireteam
  • Voidwall grenade – detonation creates a horizontal wall of burning Void light, stopping enemies in their tracks
  • Smoke – slows and disorients enemies stuck inside
  • Shadestep (ability) – avoid damage with this stealthy perk

These new subclasses and abilities seem pretty cool, and they should definitely shake a few things up within Destiny. What do you guys think of this? Leave your thoughts below.
