Pokemon Shuffle released earlier this year on the 3DS. Since then, the game has found great success, with Nintendo looking to expand the game’s platforms.

Pokemon Shuffle has been downloaded 4.5 million times on the 3DS since releasing in January. Now, the game will be released on iOS and Android platforms later this year. The title will still be free-to-play, and will be supported by microtransactions much like its 3DS counterpart.

Pokemon Shuffle is a puzzle game much like Bejeweled and Candy Crush. The difference is the gems are replaced with pictures of the various creatures, such as Bulbasaur and Charmander. Players line up the Pokemon in rows of three in order for them to disappear. The twist in the match three format is that players only have a certain number of moves available to create matches. Player must therefore think ahead in order to create matching combos.

Pokemon Shuffle is not the game in the series to come to mobile. Other apps such as Pokemon TV, Pokedex, Camp Pokemon, and others have been released before.
