Shovel Knight has been a digital only title since the game released. That is going to be changing this October.

Shovel Knight will be receiving a physical release on October 13 (the game will release on the 16th in Europe). The game will release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and 3DS. The game will release on PC exclusively in Europe. The title will set players back $20.

The physical version of Shovel Knight will include the base game, as well as the upcoming Plague of Shadows expansion. The game will also come with all planned future updates, including Battle mode, the Specter Knight’s campaign, King Knight’s campaign, and more.

Physical copies of Shovel Knight will also come packed with a “lavish” instruction manual like the one rewarded to certain Kickstarter backers. While there aren’t many details, Yacht Club has stated that players “deserve a full manual, to hold in your hot little shaking hands and pore over as you wait to get home!”

The Plague of Shadows expansion coming with the physical Shovel Knight is the first major update for the game. Yacht Club says that the update is coming soon, and that it “will definitely hit digital platforms BEFORE the boxed version.” The developer says the update is “in the home stretch and [is] polishing every detail, pixel, and potion right now.”

Shovel Knight originally released on PC, Wii U, and 3DS last June. The game has since reached out to several other platforms. It has been announced that the game has sold more than 700,000 copies across the board.
