The puzzle has been solved. The teasing fourth button of the Hearthstone menu has been revealed to be a new mode called Tavern Brawl, which should be making its way in the next patch. Announced formally on Blizzard’s Hearthstone Twitter page informing us that Hearthstone was “about to get CRAZY!”

This new mode will apparently have “games played with a unique set of rules that change every week” significantly mixing up the Hearthstone formula on a weekly basis. Blizzard elaborated “One week might feature preset decks, while another week could have you crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types,” The brawl will allow you to face off against both strangers as well as friends, so if you have that one friend that just doesn’t stop with the Murloc decks, then this is the mode for you.

If I was good at paint, I would spell Tavern Brawl here. But I'm not.

Just pretend it says Tavern Brawl right there.

The new patch will contain the new mode but will only be available to players who have reached level 20 with at least one hero. As well as the new mode, patch 2.7 will also introduce new hero skins to change the look of your classes. Blizzard have not confirmed an exact date for the release of the patch but has announced it will be coming in “mid-June,” which could be right around the corner…or maybe the next one.

When the new patch arrives, players will be able to win card packs in your first game of the week in “the first several brawls” which should give card hungry players enough incentive to check it out at least once a week.

While new additions like Adventure mode and Tavern Brawl are exiting, I’m still waiting on an Observation mode, although with all the streaming on Twitch I suppose do we really need one?
