The Last Guardian has been a bit of a gaming urban legend for years now. While the game has never been officially canceled, there is never any news or assurance that we will be seeing the game any time soon. That may change at this year’s E3.

The Last Guardian may be featured at this year’s E3. The Guardian is making claims that Sony will finally show off the title this year. In an article showcasing their most anticipated games for E3, they state that they “have it on very good authority that this will be the year that Team Ico finally presents its follow-up to much loved classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.”

The Last Guardian has been in development since 2007. The game was originally revealed in 2009, and has faced many challenges since. Team Ico has assured fans that the game is still in development, despite the hardships that the studio has faced. Creator Fumito Ueda, however, has stated that the game is “making progress under completely new conditions.” Perhaps the game will be announced for the PlayStation 4 this year.

Hopefully we will not be pulled along anymore on whether or not the game is on the way. In early 2015, the trademark for The Last Guardian was allowed to expire. Fans had thought that the game had been canceled for a week before Sony came out and assured gamers that the game was still in development. Maybe this will be the year that we finally learn the fate of The Last Guardian.
