Street Fighter V is the upcoming entry in the long standing series. Now, those who wanted the game to come over to the Xbox will have their hopes shattered.

Capcom has announced that Street Fighter V will not be coming over to the Xbox One. A Capcom representative had this to say: “One comment we see a lot is that something like Street Fighter V is going to come out on Xbox. But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run.”

The representative then spoke of the relationship between Capcom and Sony, and the benefits the partnership yields: “We’re not talking about how we’re handling post-launch content, but I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past…The relationship serves a gameplay and development purpose, and not just a marketing value.”

Phil Spencer has spoken out about Street Fighter’s exclusivity before: “Business deals happen. We don’t do all of them. When we have a 1st party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours…I’d love it if Xbox fans could play all the games, but business just makes some deals happen. It’s all part of competition.”

Street Fighter V will release in spring of 2016. The game will be available on the PlayStation 4 and PC.
