The Last Guardian director Fumito Ueda dropped some behind-the scenes information regarding the game, including his new studio and what his plans are for it now and in the future.

Ueda has set up a new studio named genDESIGN, which is made up of a team of the developers behind PlayStation 2 games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

“Last summer, I started a small studio with some of my old collaborators to challenge myself and try something new,” Ueda said. “Since last summer, I’ve been working from a smaller studio I formed with the original staff who helped make Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.”

The team working at genDESIGN plans to push games beyond what they are now – starting with The Last Guardian.

“Together we hope to challenge our personal creative limits and the possibilities of what games can be, both with The Last Guardian and beyond.” he said.

The Last Guardian kicked off the PlayStation E3 press conference, a reveal that players have been waiting for for quite a long time to say the least. The game was also announced to be coming sometime in 2016 to the PlayStation 4.
