As of June 30, 2015, Amazon has begun operations in Mexico. The first thing sold? An Amiibo.

According to CNN Mexico’s Twitter account, an Ike Amiibo was the very first thing sold upon Amazon Mexico’s opening.

Nintendo’s Amiibos are a line of figures that have various functionalities for select 3DS and Wii U games. Amiibos have proven to be extremely popular collector’s items. Demand for the products far surpasses the supply, making them hard to find and expensive. Amazon Mexico reportedly is selling Amiibo for cheaper than in US, albeit with only shipping within Mexico.

Amiibo have increasingly become more and more instrumental in 3DS and Wii U gameplay. Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, a free to play game, revolves entirely around the products. Nintendo have also said they have plans to create Amiibo figures for all of the playable Smash Brothers fighters.
