Over the past day, UK based retailer Game has been cancelling a select number of pre-orders of both the standard and collector’s editions of Metal Gear Solid V, while offering up a various number of reasons.

News first broke earlier today that the company had outright cancelled, and where appropriate refunded, the pre-orders of Metal Gear Solid V for certain customers. At the time, the reasons given by the company was that there had been an error with the delivery address, or the payment information of the customer.

However customers that were affected then went on to tell Gamespot of how Game had no solid reason to cancel their pre-order of the game, as both their delivery address and bank account details were in perfect order. While this mostly affected pre-orders of the collector’s edition of Metal Gear Solid V, a certain number of the standard editions of the game were also affected.

Just hours ago, Game has spoken out about the sudden cancellation of the pre-orders of the game, stating that some customers were “incorrectly charged” for their purchases. “Regrettably, due to a technical issue with our computer systems, 370 customers who pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid V standard edition have had their orders incorrectly charged” a spokesperson from Game stated.

“Our customer service and store teams are working to contact all those impacted and refund any over payment. We apologise for any inconvenience caused” the statement from Game concluded. Aside from the clarification of the standard edition cancellations, it is still unknown why Game has cancelled collector’s editions of Metal Gear Solid V.
