Earlier today, 2K Games and Firaxis announced that the strategy game XCOM 2 will be pushed back into February 2016. Originally scheduled to be released in November, the developer pushed back the release into 2016 because, “With XCOM 2, we want to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you.”

“We’ve set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown,” they said, “We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game. We appreciate your patience and continued support as we move towards February. Good luck, Commander!”

The sequel is a follow-up to the game XCOM: Enemy Unknown and will “transport players 20 years into the future, where humanity lost the war against the alien threat that has established a new world order.”

XCOM 2 will be released exclusively on PC, but the developer did say that they’re not opposed to the possibility of making console versions. For more XCOM, check out these 12 minutes of XCOM 2 gameplay.
