In an unexpected turn of events Charlie Yang, the manager of Evil Geniuses, has announced on twitter that Kurtis ‘Aui_2000’ Ling has been removed from the team. His departure clears the way for former Team Secret player Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev to join the squad.
Roster changes are common after a big tournament, but it still comes as a surprise that the winning team has decided to make changes. This is the first time since TI1 that the champions have changed their roster after the tournament. It is a big disappointment for Ling, as his performance at TI5 was very impressive. Fear has expressed an interest in playing the support role, so it is likely that he will take over Ling’s position, with Arteezy likely taking over the safe lane.
The removal of Aui from EG seems almost unfair for him, but he should have no problem another team to join. Many teams will be looking to acquire the player’s services after his world class performances at EG. Aui broke the news to his followers by tweeting:
