Ryan Reynolds stars in 20th Century Fox’s latest Marvel movie, Deadpool. With Marvel signing away the rights to the mutants (X-men and almost anything related to X-men that is a mutant) over 10 years ago, Fox is banking on the rising popularity of the movies produced by Marvel themselves.
Deadpool was initially seen on the big screen in Wolverine: X-men Origins, a 2009 movie produced by Fox with mixed reviews. Wolverine: X-men Origins sits at 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, and there was a strong criticism from comic book fans over the portrayal of Deadpool.
Despite all of this, Fox moved ahead with the Wolverine movies – and decided to give Deadpool his own movie. Ryan Reynolds has been advocating for an R rated Deadpool film, encouraging the directors not to hold back on the accuracy.
Deadpool is known as one of Marvel’s more violent comics, and with how main stream comic films are becoming, it would be interesting to see how much of a backlash the company would get from the angry uneducated parents.
Either way, the movie looks promising for fans of the Deadpool comics. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtTfd6tISfw]
