In a surprising turn of events this year at E3, Microsoft announced the adding of backwards compatibility for the Xbox One.
Select Xbox 360 games (essentially developers that choose to opt in) will be launching this December for play on the Xbox One. If you have a disc, or even a digital copy under your gamer tag, you will have the ability to install and play it on your Xbox One.
After the initial wave was announced, it wasn’t sure when we would hear about the next patch of Xbox 360 games coming to the program. Phil Spencer has tweeted out a teaser, letting us know it should be coming this week.
@JoshLuck1995 Looks like you should hear some news this week.

At the moment, one of the most requested games is Red Dead Redemption, although Rockstar hasn’t commented if the are on board or not for the program yet.
The top 5 most requested games are as follows:
- Call of Duty: Black ops II
- Red Dead Redemption
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Halo: Reach
Although developers are really into HD re-releases and cashing in on the classic games they have released in the past, its surprising the amount that have already jumped on board.
