Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix’s essential 2011 RPG could be heading to the Xbox One via the big backwards compatibility push on the console.

The official Deus Ex twitter account responded to a fan’s question about the possibility of backwards compatibility with “We’re working to make it happen. 🙂 We’re hoping to have good news soon!” which suggests it’s likely to be winging our way come September.

In the voting scheme for fans to choose which 360 games they would like to see on their Xbox Ones, Deus Ex has amassed over 12,000 votes, so there is definite demand.

Ultimately, its publishers who decide whether players will have their beloved last gen games made available on the Xbox One, but with the above enthusiasm, we’re hoping for good news to come from Square and Eidos very soon.

The Xbox One backwards compatibility program is currently available to Preview Program members, an invite-only scheme designed to test features for the Xbox One. However, as Xbox boss Phil Spencer had said at Gamescom, everyone will be able to play the 100 titles available at launch this November. A list of confirmed titles can be found here.
