The PS4 was again the best-selling system in August according to NPD’s newest report.

By topping the sales charts again, PS4 has consistently led sales each month since April 2015.

No specific sales figures for the PS4 or Xbox One were released by Sony or Microsoft, but Sony directed attention towards the Call of Duty: Black Ops III beta, saying it was “a significant milestone in our new partnership with Activision. We look forward to furthering momentum with the launch of Destiny: The Taken King next week.”

Microsoft, on the other hand, compared their sales for the month to themselves the previous year, noting that sales were up 26% over August 2014. They, like Sony, looked towards the future, stating “With more of the greatest games lineup in Xbox history, support for Xbox 360 games, the New Xbox One Experience system update in November alongside Xbox One Backward Compatibility, and award-winning Xbox Elite Wireless Controller to follow this holiday, we’re excited to further build on this momentum in the months to come.”

While Nintendo also did not talk Wii U sales specifically, they revealed that 7 million Amiibo have sold in the US alone, where Splatoon has also sold over 600,000 copies.

Hardware sales for the year were down 2% from last year to $190.5 million. NPD analyst Liam Callahan said, “”93 percent of unit sales in August 2015 came from bundles, which compares to 41 percent in August 2014.”
