Apple, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Samsung, Facebook, Amazon, and many other tech companies made the annual “best global brands” list, a list that started in 2001. This year, however, is the first year that Nintendo fell short of being on the list.

The video game giant’s absence was apparently due to their inability to adapt to people’s changing lives, primarily in terms of developing games for mobiles and tablets. While their only announced mobile game, Pokemon Go, is coming out later this year, this apparently wasn’t enough for Interbrand Japan CEO Yuki Wada.

Hopefully their entrance into the mobile market might help push them back on the list. Was it deserved though? Does Nintendo’s hesitation to enter the mobile video game development market deserve it being kicked off the list? Sound off in the comments!
