Naughty Dog, the developer behind both the Uncharted series on PS3 and the Last of Us game that was originally released on the PS3 and then remastered for the PS4 talked about why they decided to remaster the Uncharted series for the PS4.

In an interview with MCV, Naughty Dog’s Eric Monacelli said, “We did a lot of research and discovered that about 80 percent of the people that own a PS4 have never played Uncharted, period. That was one of the reasons why we thought remastering it would be a good idea.”

Monacelli went on to say, “The other reason is we decided we wanted to do it; especially when we got The Last of Us Remastered done, we thought ‘Oh man, this would be cool if we could go back’.”

Talking about Destiny and the Last of US Remastered last year Sony’s president of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida said, “Almost 50 per cent of people who have purchased a PS4 didn’t own a PS3, and that’s lots of people that missed exclusive PS3 titles like The Last of Us, so it’s a great way to welcome those people back to PlayStation, saying this is what you missed.”

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection which includes remastered versions of Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves, and Drake’s Deception launches on PS4 this Friday October 9th. Sony will also release an Uncharted Collection PS4 bundle for $399 on the same day as the game’s release.
