Sony has announced that the UK and Australia will be receiving custom PS4 faceplates in November. It will release on November 18th in the UK and November 19th in Australia. The faceplates will be easy to install. You can remove the old hard disk drive cover, then slide the new faceplate cover in until it clicks into place.
Sony has announced a variety of colors available at launch. They will include: Neon Orange, Aqua Blue, Red and Glacier White. There are still no plans to launch the Silver and Gold faceplates, though.
The custom faceplates were originally announced at the Tokyo Game Show this year, but no there was no mention of a launch outside of Japan. The colors were also a little different then the ones planned to release in November. It will be interesting to see if the custom faceplates launch for Europe and the US in the near future.
