Uncharted 4 multiplayer will be hosted by fellow players.

Two days ago, Uncharted 4‘s multiplayer mode was revealed Paris Games Week 2015. Naughty Dog had a press conference talking about and showing the multiplayer. The beta will be available from December 4th to December 13th. The game will be released on March 18th for the PS4.

According to VG247, Naughty Dog has announced Uncharted 4 multiplayer will not have dedicated servers. This may worry some fans, and disrupt some online activity. VG247 stated Rober Cogburn, the lead multiplayer designer, didn’t “elaborate on how host-switching would work in the event of players dropping out either intentionally or as a result of network problems.” Hopefully, the reliance on a host won’t become too much of a problem for players.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s was released in 2011, and its multiplayer had players host matches much like the 4th one will. I don’t remember having too much of a problem with online hosts, so I’m going to trust Naughty Dog with their decision.

The online mode will have a maximum of 10 players playing. So, the matches will be 5 vs.5. Players can spawn a “Sidekick,” an bot, to assist you.  I’m not sure how I feel about this feature, but I’ll wait and see. According to GameSpot, “players can unlock “Mystical” abilities that give them special abilities.” There is also a grappling hook feature that will no doubt be fun to play around with.

Naughty Dog has also confirmed that there will be microtransactions for the online mode. You can read about that here.
