Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been no stranger to acknowledging his competitors and how well they are performing. He has again spoken out on the subject of Microsoft’s vision of Xbox One and how the success of PS4 affects that vision.

Spencer has simply said that right now, Xbox is determined to be the best console it can be. “Our long-term Xbox vision isn’t about competitors, it’s about gamers,” he said on Twitter. “We’ll stay focused there.”

He later added that the “team is 100% committed to making XB1 a great gaming console. Games, OS, XBL, that’s the focus.” These comments come shortly after earlier this month when Spencer admitted that the PS4 had a “huge lead” over the Xbox One in terms of sales. Similar to the most recent comments, Spencer said that “we’re not motivated by beating Sony, we’re motivated by gaining as many customers as we can.”

why does ps4 have a huge lead? it looks very similar to the ps3 which i’m told the xbox 360 beat handily in sales by a very wide margin year after year, original xbox always seemed more popular then ps2, and both sega genesis and nintendo 64 seemed more popular then the original playstation, and growing up playstation seemed more of a niche console like nintendo became, while it seemed all the media and all the gaming communities and the rise of competitive gaming revolved around xbox products. I’ve not heard any glowing reviews of ps4 other hten the bungie co-founder calling it a great piece of gear, most articles i read late last year and early this year seemed to indicate most people planned on choosing xbox one as their next console, supposedly most people previously owned an xbox 360 not a ps3, so i’m confused why people would choose the ps4. only benefit i’ve seen to it so far is that Destiny leans a bit towards ps4 and the reddit community of amazingly kind and helpful Destiny players seems to primarily be a ps4 community and long-time playstation fans.

my one friend has both consoles which seems to be a growing trend for anyone who can afford it to just get both, and he said there isn’t too much difference in graphics on the two consoles which i’m told was long playstation’s selling point that they trended to have far better graphics then anyone else

the two consoles when i see pictures of them both online even look extremely similar so i don’t understand why one would have a big lead on the other?

in college most of my friends had an xbox 360, so i was planning on getting one of those finally this summer when my tax refund came in, but my friend said the old consoles are obsolete and not going to be supported much longer since apparetnly the new ones i was just hearing about late 2014/early 2015 were already out for 2 years now almost they said, so they convinced me to go with an xbox one instead of the 360.

i didn’t even consider playstation because i never liked the playstation one or ps2 controllers when i used them at friends houses as they had two many buttons compared to my n64 i had at the time and they hurt my hands after a fairly short time holding them and didn’t feel comfortable at all. also i was under the impression it was difficult on playstation to find people to play with for destiny which that game is really why i ended up getting a new console instead of scouring the internet to find a new a/v or rf cable for my n64. also, when i was in college i remembered the ps3 being like 600 dollars or something crazy like that when it launched and it got poor reviews from most of the reviews i read at the time and most of the friends who i knew had one or played on one, so i assumed ps4 was likely to be even more expensive, and it looked like it had the same uncomfortable controllers with too many buttons and symbols instead of letters on the buttons that the ps1 and ps2 had years ago. also my friend recommended xbox one as probably the better choice for me since the last console i owned was an n64 and the last one i really played on was the 360, they thought i’d be more familar and able to get into destiny and the newer games faster with something i was familar with, and i forget the other reasons now.

but with the primarily xbox community on bungie.net being so mean derrorgatory and spiteful/hateful to each other all the time as a community, and the primarily ps4 community on the destiny reddit always offering to help me learn the game and the learn better and play with me if i had a ps4 and teach me how to raid and how raiding works if i had a ps4, etcetera…sometimes i wonder if i bought the wrong console or if i should also buy a ps4 even though i dont really have the money for a 2nd console when i have my bills finally paid but still owe as much debt to my family from the 13 months i was out of work as i originally owed in debt for my truck and my school loans, i eventually need new teeth since my natural teeth have been deteriorating since i was 20 and i’m now almost 32, i’d like to eventually get a computer good enough to play guild wars 2 since ive never had a computer good enough to play guild wars or guild wars 2 and always wanted to play that franchise as in many ways it seems like it could end up being the ideal game for me. and even though i just got my truck paid for in november 2014, i bought it new in december 2008 and i think it was manufactured in 2007, so who knows how much longer it will keep running well and keep holding up(i’m hoping at least 5 more years)

but anyway, i’m wondering the benefits of a ps4 and if i should get one, also i recently found out 2 of my other online friends each have a ps4, one bought one awhile back and one just got one as a gift, so i’m wondering if i should consider getting one to be able to play with them or not
