Released last November, 11 bit studios’ dreary and post-war game This War of Mine will be getting a tabletop version of the game. The team will be working with veteran board game designers including Michal Oracz and Jajub Wisniewski from Earthcore: Shattered Elements, Neuroshima and Dying Light.
The tabletop game will facilitate up to 6 players in either a single player or a multiplayer experience. The game will still feature some familiar characters from the digital game as well as some challenges and choices. That said, there will also be new challenges and options that players will have to go through in true This War of Mine fashion. Furthermore, the game will be pushing the story of This War of Mine past its digital counterpart as well as the various characters within the story.
The board game boasts its unique ability to accommodate ‘instant-play’. Something that is big when it comes to traditional tabletop games. The promise of not needing to read a manual to get right into the game is bold and I hope it pays off. The game is slated for a release sometime in 2016.
