After their most successful season to date, Summer Split champions Counter Logic Gaming have elected to part ways with Yilang “Doublelift” Peng. Several hours later, Team Solo Mid, one of Counter Logic Gaming’s long time rivals, announced they had added Doublelift to their roster.

The news came as a shock to practically everyone. Doublelift had been playing with Counter Logic Gaming for numerous years and was considered integral to their success this year. At the present, it appears that the roster change was the decision of Counter Logic Gaming management, not Doublelift himself. Doublelift had apparently not been given warning prior to being kicked. At the present, both Doublelift and Counter Logic Gaming have provided little detail on the nuances of the situation.

In the past several weeks, both Counter Logic Gaming and Team Solo Mid have undergone major roster changes. Team Solo Mid announced that they had released both Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen and  Ham “Lustboy” Jang-sik with Marcus “Dyrus” Hill stepping down. Several days later they announced they would be holding tryouts for the AD Carry position as well.

In the past week, CLG announced the replacement of both mid laner Eugene “Pobelter” Park and coach Chris Ehrenreich, both moves that have been widely criticized by fans.

Both Counter Logic Gaming and Team Solo Mid will be playing at IEM San Jose later this month. How these major roster changes will affect their performance remains to be seen.
