Nintendo announced today that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will release on the Wii U on March 4, 2016.

The game will be a remastered version of Twilight Princess, which originally launched for Wii and GameCube in 2006. This version of the title was developed with Australia-based developer Tantalus.

Alongside the game, Nintendo also announced a new Midna amiibo that also contains Link in his wolf farm from the game. The new amiibo figure will also be included in a bundle for the game when it is released. Nintendo revealed that data will be transferable from the Midna amiibo to Zelda Wii U when it launches in 2016, but details will only be revealed at a later date. The previous five Legend of Zelda amiibo from the Smash Bros. series – Link, Toon Link, Zelda, Ganondorf and Shiek – will also be compatible with the game in some way.

President of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Amie said the HD version of Twilight Princess will contain “unique features” that will be detailed in the near future.

An interesting part of the trailer it that it doesn’t seem to support motion controls. Watch the announcement trailer for Twilight Princess HD above and let us know what you think in the comments below!

Of course Nintendo’s giving the HD remake treatment to even the bad Zelda games. I have no idea why people liked this one.

While it’s not my favorite Zelda (that tutorial/intro is horribly long), I think I will give it another try now and see how I fair with it 10 years later
