In late October GameStop made claims that multiple large holiday titles were on track to underperform based on the retailer’s projections, one such title being Star Wars Battlefront, even though it had not even released yet. Taking a moment to respond to those claims at the recent Credit Suisse Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference (via GameSpot), EA head Peter Moore simply called the comments “interesting and a little bit of a surprise…”

“From our perspective, I’m here to reaffirm our guidance of 13 million units sold in for the fiscal year. There is no weakness that is perceptible yet in the title,” Moore said. “I want everybody to understand that based on where we think this title is and the marketing beats ahead of us, in particular the movie launch over the next two weeks, we feel very comfortable that we’re going to hit the guidance that we’ve given.”

Our review of Star Wars Battlefront called it “a game that I liked, but didn’t love. Its impressive visuals and incredible soundtrack appease the senses, but after a few hours of game-play, the thrill and nostalgia wears off and you’re left with a game that doesn’t deliver where it matters.”
