Harmonix and Oculus announced during the 2015 Game Awards that they will be releasing a virtual reality version of Rock Band, the music video game, for Oculus Rift. While there are very little details about the game, the game and the Oculus Rift headset should be released in 2016
To showcase the partnership, Palmer Luckey, the creator of Oculus Rift appeared on stage, while brandishing a Rock Band style guitar. Oculus has been collaborating on Rock Band VR for a long time with Harmonix.The song “Through the Fire and the Flames” will be playable in Rock Band VR. A video was released during the event that showed Harmonix and Luckey jamming to the popular band Dragonforce. The video can be found below.
The latest entry in the core Rock Band series is Rock Band 4, which launched for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in October.
