A new VR-capable version of Sega’s classic shooter Rez, titled Rez: Infinite was announced during the Playstation Experience conference in San Francisco today. Creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi has been involved in the development of the remake alongside 8-4’s Mark MacDonald, who claims that the game will offer a 120 fps frame rate as well as 3D, multi-directional audio. The game will also apparently be playable without the use of the VR headset, being fully compatible with the PS4 while running at 60 fps with 7.1 audio.

Rez’s fascinating mixture of  rhythm-driven, on-rails gunner and techno, trance psychedelia is unsurprisingly well suited to the Playstation VR’s current Tron-esque aesthetic and is a very exciting addition to the upcoming system’s library.

The release date for Rez: Infinite  has not yet been announced but for those of you interested in seeing how the game plays on the PS VR system, check out the video below.
