It’s that time of year again: The Game Awards are upon us, and with it, comes ten “World Premiers”.  And while these might not all be game announcements, there is one in particular we can count on.  Palmer Luckey, creator of the Oculus Rift, tweeted, “Really cool announcement happening at The Game Awards! (Not preorders opening),” followed by a video preview of the 2015 Game Awards.

Two possibilities floating around the internet concerning the announcement are its pricing and its release date, still yet to be revealed.   Along with this are announcements on the next Mortal Kombat X DLC Character and new footage and gameplay on Quantum Break.

The Oculus Rift was first developed as a ameteur prototype in Luckey’s Long Beach, CA garage back in 2011.

Oculus RiftHe is one of the many to have benefited from the generosity and curiosity of Kickstarter patrons and fans. Nominated for Best of E3 in 2012, the Rift Kickstarter raised $2,437,429 from 9,522 contributors.

The Game Awards will take place tonight, December 3, at 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST.
