Released back in 2005, the critically acclaimed Psychonauts is finally receiving a sequel through crowdfunding. Psychonauts 2 has reached $3.3 million on the new crowdfunding platform Fig, which allows users to help fund the project in two different ways.
Fig uses an investment and a reward system. For those considered qualified investors, you can pledge money and share in the future success of the studio. The rewards on the Fig campaign for Psychonauts 2 had tiers ranging from $5 to $10,000. The most expensive tier was a camping trip for you, a friend, and the development team, Double Fine.
For Psychonauts 2, the goal was set at $3.3 million. Although large for a crowdfunding project, the average video game will cost over $15 million to make. (source)
