It is an exciting time in the independent gaming community. Not only are indie games getting more time in the spotlight than ever before, but more and more developers are taking advantage of this and making some of the greatest and most unique games out there. A great example of this is a very special upcoming game called, The Witness.

It was finally revealed today that the price for this title would be $39.99 on Steam and PS4. The Witness is also available for preorder now, via Steam, the Humble Store, and the official website. As of the time of this article, the website has been down, perhaps from people looking to get their preoders, but this information was shared by NeoGAF. Unfortunately, the game cannot be preordered for PS4 due to the developer not knowing that had to be set up months in advance.

For those of you who don’t know the developer, his name is Jonathan Blow and some could consider him to be the father of the modern indie game. As part of this announcement he stated that those who preordered the game would receive “the warm fuzzy feeling that you have preordered the game. (And that’s all).” He continued, “So it’s exactly the same as buying the game at launch, except earlier.” His only major work before The Witness was a very popular game called Braid, which took the gaming community by storm when it took of the video game tropes and turned them on their sides. The Witness will be released next week on January 26th for PS4 and PC.
