Sony has filed a patent for a touch and motion sensitive, glove-like virtual reality controller.

The controller will work together with a VR headset and features a trackable light on the user’s wrist, coupled with sensors that are able to detect contact with surroundings, objects or slight finger movements. There is also “at least one inertial sensor for generating inertial sensor data,” which is where it will couple with the Move’s current capabilities.

According to the patent, users will be able to “touch objects, move objects, interface with surfaces, toss objects, make gesture actions or motions, or the like.”

Filing a patent doesn’t necessarily mean Sony will be releasing the product any time soon, or ever, but they are hosting a special event at GDC on March 15 that will focus on the PlayStation VR.
