Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has reached 50 million players.
Blizzard made the announcement in a press release today. The card game reached the milestone just in time for the release of its latest expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods. In February, Blizzard had confirmed that the collectable card game had reached more than 40 million players. Last May, the developer had stated that Hearthstone had 30 million registered accounts.
Since Hearthstone’s release in 2014, Blizzard has supported the game through weekly events, regular updates, and a healthy esports scene. Blizzard works closely with the community for some of the game’s major changes.
Hearthstone is available for PC, iOS, and Android. Today marked the release of the game’s latest expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods. The expansion will bring with it a number of new cards, as well as changes to the game’s competitive play.
