With a growing list of high profile Disney and Marvel movies filling in the schedule, Inhumans was the film that finally gave way. Far from canceled, Deadline is reporting Disney has simply put the film on hold, without a new release date.

Already having a script from Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther, American Crime Story), the movie was originally meant to hit theaters in 2018. Inhumans was delayed however, to July 12, 2019. Seeing as Marvel has continued to add movies to their schedule, namely Spiderman: Homecoming in 2017 and Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018, that date slipped as well. Aside from Marvel movies, other films may have also contributed to the delay, including the fact Disney’s Indiana Jones 5 is slated for July 19, 2019, just a week after Inhumans was set to release.

The Inhumans are a group in the Marvel universe created though aliens known as the kree (the race of Ronan, Lee Pace’s villain in Guardian’s of the Galaxy) experimenting on humans. While not introduced in the films just yet, the Inhumans have featured prominently in the past two seasons of ABC’s Agents of SHIELD.

What do you think of the delay? Are you sad we won’t be getting a full Inhumans movie for what looks to be a very long time? Let us know in the comments.
