River City: Tokyo Rumble will be coming stateside on the Nintendo 3DS later this year.

Publisher Natsume announced on Twitter that River City: Tokyo Rumble will release in the US later this year. They also announced that the game will be playable at E3 2016.

Tokyo Rumble will be the first 3DS title in the Kunio-kun series to make it overseas. The game, developed by Arc System Works, is a port of Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun SP, a side-scrolling beat-em-up that released in Japan back in 2013. The game uses retro-style 2D sprites much like older entries in the series, creating a familiar experience for fans of the 30-year-old franchise.

In honor of that anniversary, an updated port of 1986’s River City Ransom will release on the 3DS in Japan. Arc System Works will release River City Ransom SP this June in Japan. The port will feature new moves and graphics for the original NES title. A US release has not been confirmed. However, Natsume’s suggests that Tokyo Rumble will serve the anniversary game for Western fans.
