Google has recently announced at Google I/O 2016 they they are developing a VR platform that will release later this year.

Titled Daydream, the new VR platform will work in tandem with the latest Android OS, headset, and controller. The only thing needed is an Android N smartphone optimized for the experience, as well as an updated sensor and display technology. With all of this prepared, a device will be declared “Daydream Ready.”

Google hasn’t specifically stated which devices will be compatible with the program; however, they have created a draft for companies to see the performance and design specifications. The controller almost looks like a shortened version of the PlayStation Move, while headset looks quite similar to current VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

The headset are lightly planned to be released this fall, although no specific date was set.
