The virtual card game spin-off of The Witcher franchise, Gwent, has been delayed to October 25th. The decision to push the game back from its initial September closed beta release was announced by developer CD Projekt Red.

“Unfortunately, we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing,” the developer said. “We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline. Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t realize that delays can be disappointing, and we apologize for making you wait.”

Gwent first made its appearance as a mini-game in The Witcher 3. Compared to its initial debut, the standalone game will include new features such as ranked multiplayer.

Gwent will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The closed beta will be accessible on Xbox One and PC. You can register for the beta on the game’s official website.

In other news related to the series, a release date for the Game of the Year edition of The Witcher 3 was announced for August 30th.
