The Pokemon GO development team has officially unveiled a new feature coming to the application that will bring you even closer to your favorite creatures.
The new feature, aptly titled “Buddy Pokemon” will let you choose your favorite Pokemon caught so far to become your new best friend. Depending on which one you select, you’ll experience different in-game rewards and experiences, though the post by the developer did not go into detail of what these might be.
Your buddy will also appear on the profile screen, standing alongside your trainer, even awarding you with additional candy when you are walking together.
While it’s obviously difficult to pick favorites, you’ll be able to change your buddy at any given time.
No release date was included as to when the new feature might be released, but it was mentioned that the update is “just around the corner,” so you likely can expect it soon.
The most recent update to Pokemon GO prior to Buddy Pokemon was an appraisal
system designed to help you know which Pokemon had the greatest potential for battle. After these recent updates, developer Niantic wrote, “We’ve got a lot more in the works this fall. Stay tuned here for all the details.”
