When it comes to marketing a new game, part of the decision making is which platform the title will be released on. The most popular console often has the most games on it, because the developers know just how many people own that device. What if nearly everyone in the world owned the device you want to make your game for? That is exactly where mobile gaming comes in and Sony wants a piece of the pie.

While only a couple of years ago it seemed mobile games were only made by more “casual” developers, we have seen a turnaround in how many console game makers are looking to get in on this handheld world. Sony is one of these companies and they have decided to push even more than before. What brought this on? Just a little thing called Pokemon Go.

Sony Chief Executive Kaz Hirai spoke about the phenomenon from Niantic with the Financial Times. “Pokémon Go is a real game-changer,” he stated. “I’m very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally.”

Sony has their own mobile gaming studio called ForwardWorks that should be coming out with something from the PlayStation world.
