The major bridge Microsoft is hoping to build between Xbox and PC gaming, Xbox Play Anywhere officially kicks off today. Ushered in with the program’s first title, ReCore, gamers can now take advantage of cross-save and cross-buy functionality between Xbox One versions of games and their Windows 10 PC counterparts.

Referring to both the release of ReCore and of the program as a whole, “Today is an exciting day for all of us on Team Xbox,” writes the game’s Senior Creative Director Joseph Staten in a post on Xbox Wire.

ReCore is a third-person action platformer from the minds behind both MegaMan and Metroid Prime. It follows Joule as she transverses a dangerous planet with the help of a few robotic friends. As a Play Anywhere title, ReCore is available on Windows 10 and Xbox One for a single purchase. Progress and achievements will track between the two platforms.

Future Xbox One titles, such as Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3, will also support the program. Where appropriate, these games will also allow cross-play between PC and the console. Currently, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2, Scalebound, Killer Instinct, State of Decay 2, ARK: Survival Evolved, Cuphead, We Happy Few, and Crackdown 3 are all confirmed to also be Play Anywhere titles.

As we dig into the mysteries of ReCore’s Far Eden, look for our review and additional coverage of the game as the week goes on.
