Shortly after the launch of Battlefield 1, you will be able to rent-a-server to host your own private and public Battlefield 1 games.

You can rent these servers from an in-game store, once it goes live, and customize the games to suit the playstyle of you and your friends. Expect to be able to customize your server in a number of ways such as gameplay options, server name, game mode, map rotations, and more in-depth UI options in the future.

“In the past, servers were handled by third-party companies”, EA DICE explains. “Now, EA is providing them directly…We will be able to secure the quality of the actual hardware. Since the servers come from the same provider, it will give everyone the same uniform experience. Furthermore, if you have questions or need help, you will be able to reach out to EA Support directly instead of third party support”.

EA DICE warns that they may “restrict the number of game modes available at launch and gradually enable them based on feedback and other circumstances”.

Battlefield 1 launches October 21st for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Hear about the new spectator mode, when you can start preloading the game, and all the maps and modes available at launch.
