Video games may be young compared to movies, television, and literature, but they have now been around for over 40 years and have given us some amazing classics along the way. Microsoft may have jumped into the industry later than most big names now, but they came in with a bang and have stayed that way with the Xbox. There’s a chance we could see some title from the original console in action again.
To the pleasure of fans everywhere, Phil Spencer is once again being active on the Twitterverse. Yesterday, October 12, he answered someone asking about the possibility of seeing original Xbox titles coming to backward compatibility. The response: “We haven’t ruled it out but we aren’t working on it right now. I’d like to find the time to do it.”
While it doesn’t seem out of the question, it looks like original Xbox titles on backward compatibility is not exactly a number one priority. If they could eventually find the time to get it done, there are plenty of excellent titles that could see the light of day again. Perhaps bringing new life to some diamonds in the rough, like Brute Force or others.
Let Phil Spencer know that you want this and maybe it will happen.
