Square Enix has just released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XV.

The trailer isn’t just to show off new content, a small aspect or feature of the game. Instead, Square Enix has crammed everything from gameplay mechanics to character bios into this eight-minute and fifty second trailer.

Final Fantasy XV has had a troubled development, to say the least.  Originally teased as Final Fantasy Versus XIII back in 2006, the game was planned to be a Playstation 3 exclusive that blended stylish combat with rich RPG elements and a memorable story.  Ten years later, Final Fantasy XV is almost ready for release, and Square Enix is celebrating with a new trailer.

The trailer starts with a small introduction to the world of Final Fantasy XV, proudly declaring it as a “world of fantasy based on reality.”  The narrator spends several minutes talking about the main characters and going into detail about their personalities, fighting styles, and unique mechanics.  After discussing the main and side characters, the narrator rapidly fires off numerous gameplay features, including combat, magic, the ascension system, summons, and quests.  Most of these features are self-explanatory and should be familiar to longtime Final Fantasy players or RPG players in general.

The trailer implies that Final Fantasy XV has much more content in the game than was shown; it promises a vast and open world that is more alive than any other Final Fantasy game.  Only time will tell if the game can live up to the hype.

Final Fantasy XV releases November 29th, 2016, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
