COGnitive Gaming has decided to close its door at the end of this year. The organization made the announcement via Twitter and states, “Cognitive Gaming will cease operations on December 31, 2016. Thank you to all the fans and former players! We appreciated all of it.” As of now, the team has not specified why exactly they are ceasing operation.

The eSports organization, which is stationed out in California, was founded back in 2013. The team started out competing in SMITE tournaments. Through hard work and determination, their team took home the Smite World Championship title in 2014.

COGnitive then expanded into other games after selling off their SMITE teams and reorganizing their rosters. Along the way, the organization then added Heroes of the Storm and Super Smash Bros. Melee to the roster of games that they competed in. One of the big recruits that the organization received during this time was top Smash Bros. player Justin “Wizzrobe” Hallet. He has recently confirmed that he will be leaving the team later this year.

It is sad to see COGnitive Gaming shut down as the world of eSports continues to expand throughout the world. We wish the members of COGnitive Gaming good luck on their future endeavors.
